Community Connections
Harris has a focus on building strong partnerships with local organizations and businesses help form a supportive environment. Our staff encourages shared learning and meaningful involvement for students, families and staff with opportunities to learn outside of the classroom.
Study Connection
Each week, volunteers from the business take time to meet with selected students to help improve their reading skills in areas where support is needed.
Church Support
The church supports staff and students by donating school supplies, providing winter break goodie bags and celebrating Harris teachers in May during staff appreciation. They generously shower us with treats and gratitude.
PTA Involvement
The PTA creates opportunities for families to come together and build a sense of community through fun activities such as roller skating parties, movie nights and the Small and Tall Ball. The PTA also supports staff both financially by funding various events and activities and emotionally by showing appreciation with thoughtful extras throughout the year.
Student Senate
The Student Senate organizes a Spirit Week before winter break and collects monetary donations for Riley Children’s Hospital. They also lead a canned food collection to support a local food pantry and help stock the Harris Food Bank, which provides assistance to families experiencing difficult times.
Taco Bell Partnership
We partner with Taco Bell to raise funds for student events and to support the Patriot Store where students can spend their Patriot Bucks on fun and useful items.
Spring Concert
Each year, a theme is chosen and each grade level prepares songs and movements to entertain the audience. The music teacher coordinates the event and parents are always impressed by the talent that shines through.
Jump Rope for Heart
Held during gym class each year, this program educates students on the importance of heart health. This year, students raised over $600 for the American Heart Association.
